Dutch Member of European Parliament Marietje Schaake (ALDE/D66) calls for input on her draft report on ‘Human rights and technology: the impact of intrusion and surveillance systems on human rights in third countries’.
Schaake: “Technologies can help advance human rights such as access to information and freedom of expression. Yet, too many surveillance and intrusion technologies are being produced in Europe and sold to enable human rights violations. We need smart regulation to ensure we facilitate the protection of rights, and not their violation.”
Through sharing the draft report on ‘Human rights and technology: the impact of intrusion and surveillance systems on human rights in third countries,’ Schaake is inviting anyone from hackers to journalists, activists to lawyers, to share their input.
The draft report builds on the public hearing which took place on 21 January and can be found here, comments can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for input is Monday 16 March.
